The Artist’s Legacy: How Creativity Gives Life Purpose and Meaning
One of my favorite posts, especially for anyone searching for purpose in life. Read this piece and see how words can ignite your thoughts and inspire wonderful discoveries.

While reading Short Stories by Jules Verne, I came across a wonderful poetic piece.
“When thou workest, thou thinkest hast in thy hands but copper, silver, gold; thou dost not perceive these metals, which my genius animated, palpitating like living flesh! So that thou will not die with the death of thy works.”
The words above are spoken by a watchmaker. In simpler terms, he says that when someone works with materials like copper, silver, and gold, they may see them only as lifeless elements. But the true artist or genius breathes life into them, so much so that they seem to palpitate like living flesh. This animation of the material through artistry gives the work a kind of immortality. The physical body of the artist may die, but the living quality of their work ensures that a part of them endures.
Isn’t this wonderful? Artists really are something. For instance, you must know the underrated singer Krishnakumar Kunnath, popularly known as “KK”. If you hear any of his songs, you will feel the life within each word he sings. Unfortunately, he is no longer in this world, but his work lives on. In fact, it does not seem fair to call an artist’s creation “work”. Instead, any artist’s creations are pure magic and always will be.
Similarly, have you ever watched Dead Poets Society? Here is another beautiful line from the movie:
“That you are here, that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play GOES ON and you may CONTRIBUTE a verse. What will your verse be?”
Dear Readers,
Life is all around us. It is in you. It is in me. Is there anything that we can contribute to this world? I am sure that one day, you and I will both find that out. I truly wish great things for you. You are an artist too, and once you leave this world and move toward the infinite sky, your work, creation, verse, magic, or whatever you want to call it, will continue your legacy.
The sense of self that you wish to acquire,
That hope in your eyes with a burning desire,
Tells me you are destined for great,
All I need you to do is believe, trust, and wait.
Thanks,
